Research Program on the ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OF R AND D In the spring of 1962 the MIT School of Industrial Management, with the encouragement and financial support of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, undertook to develop a program of research and education on the problems of organizing and managing large-scale technology-based enter- prises. Statements of the underlying concepts which guide the program appear in talks delivered at the 17th Annual Conference on the Administration of Research, September 1963 (Marquis, 1964),* and at the September 1963 international convention of The Institute of Management Sciences (Roberts, 1963).
